How a Shriyam seva works
Your family's pooja, at your own altar, guided live by a purohit in India. Four steps, and the whole thing takes about an hour.
- Choose your seva and a timeTimes are shown in your own timezone, never IST. You pick the hour that suits your family; we handle the conversion for the purohit.
- Share your sankalpa detailsNames, gotra, nakshatra, language and sampradaya. This is what makes the pooja yours rather than generic — the purohit invokes your family by name, exactly as they would in a temple.
- A purohit accepts your sevaNot assigned by an algorithm to whoever is free. A purohit who speaks your language and follows your tradition sees the request and takes it. You are told who is coming.
- Perform the pooja, liveYou are the yajamana — you perform it, at your own altar, and your purohit guides every step over video. It is not a recording of someone else's ritual, and you are not watching.
What you need at home
A clean space for your altar, a phone or laptop you can prop up, and the samagri for the seva — we send you the list when you book, with what to substitute if something is hard to find where you live. Nothing has to be bought from us.
What if the timing is difficult?
Sevas run early morning and evening in US time precisely because that is when families are together and the muhurta is right. If none of the times work, tell us — we would rather move you than have you rush it.
Is it recorded?
Yes, and the recording is yours. It becomes available on your seva page afterwards. Nobody else is given a link to it. See our privacy policy for how long we keep it and how to have it deleted.
